Precision CNC Brass Turning: Beauty, Functionality, and Speed at Metalone.eu

In the world of precision metalworking, few materials are as versatile and popular as brass. This alloy of copper and zinc is not just about its aesthetic, golden appearance. For industry, brass is crucial due to its exceptional machinability, high electrical and thermal conductivity, and natural corrosion resistance.

At Metalone.eu, we understand that the production of brass parts requires specific knowledge and precision. Thanks to our modern CNC lathes and expertise, we can extract the maximum potential from brass for your projects.

Why choose brass for your turned parts?

Brass is indispensable for modern industry. Here are its main advantages, which our 4-axis technology brings to you:

Property

Benefits for your project

Excellent Machinability

Produces short, brittle chips, making it an ideal material for fast and precise CNC machining.

High Electrical Conductivity

Ensures reliable power transmission, ideal for electrical connectors and contacts.

Natural Corrosion Resistance

Requires no additional surface treatment, saving time and costs, especially in demanding conditions.

Aesthetic Appearance

Beautiful golden colour that requires no additional surface treatment, ideal for decorative elements.

Metalone.eu and Brass Turning: Speed and Precision at Metalone

Although duralumin is excellently machinable, it can cause problems for an inexperienced manufacturer. At high cutting speeds, it tends to "smear" and stick to the cutting tool (forming what is known as a built-up edge). This leads to poor surface quality and rapid tool wear.

How do we prevent this at Metalone.eu?

1. Special Cutting Tools

We do not use universal milling cutters. For duralumin, we deploy special carbide tools with a polished flute for improved chip evacuation. These tools feature sharp cutting edges and specific coatings that minimise friction and prevent material adhesion.

2. High-Speed Machining (HSM)

Duralumin thrives on speed. We utilise our modern CNC milling machines for High-Speed Machining (HSM). Rapid feed rates and high spindle speeds ensure that heat is carried away with the chips and does not remain in the workpiece. This prevents deformation and maintains micron-level precision.

3. Perfect Cooling and Lubrication

We employ advanced high-pressure cooling systems that direct emulsion precisely onto the cutting edge of the tool. This instantly cools the duralumin, and chips are rapidly and efficiently flushed away from the cutting zone.

Where are our duralumin parts used?

Thanks to its strength and low weight, we mill duralumin components for the most demanding industries:

  • Aerospace Industry: Structural elements, frames, covers, and precision clamping mechanisms, where every gram counts.

  • Robotics and Automation: Robot arms, movable line components, and grippers.

  • Automotive Industry (Motorsport): Lightweight axle parts, engine mounts, or custom components for racing specials.

  • Optics and Measurement Technology: Robust and stable bases for sensitive instruments.
